All I can do with Jackson is hold on to the end of his lead and try to "keep up". When I bred his litter I was looking for a girl but we got two boys, from the get go Jackson convinced me that he should stay...As you can tell, he won that battle! He has more then made up for the fact that he is the ``wrong`` gender. Jackson finished his Canadian Championship in two weekends with all major wins with three herding puppy group ones along the way, also being the youngest BC to ever finish in Canada at 6 mos and 19 days beating his kennel mate "Parkers" record, and ending the year as the #1 puppy for 2010. To Quote judge Kathleen Anderson-Wulff after she awarded him First in the Puppy Group: "now that is how a border collie should move!" Thanks to Leslie Rogers for her Puppy Group win as well. At 14mos old on a whim I entered him in the competitive Rocky Mountain Cluster in Denver, Colorado with an entry of approx 20 Border Collies, just to see how he would fair in the USA. After a 20 hr drive and driving all night, we jumped into the ring the first day with no sleep under our belts, it was so worth it! Jackson walked away from his first US weekend with 9 points and both his needed Am majors in one weekend by winning Winners Dog three of the four days, the last day he had to remind me just how naughty he could be in the ring and humble me up a little. ;) He just needs 6 singles to finish! In March 2011, again on one of my whims, I entered him as a special for the first time in Winnipeg, MB at the Northwinds show, only being 16 months I didn't expect much from such a young slow maturing dog... He again reminded me who I was dealing with by winning a group two under judge John Rowton and it was neck to neck as he almost went Group One!! His second group placement, a Group Four, was awarded by judge Mark Houston-McMillan who said I needed to calm his excitment in the ring since he is full of jumping beans, to quote him: "he moves like thery should, very stealth!". I am pleased. He is a big solid boy, with movement to "die" for. His alert ALL BORDER COLLIE expression, and too smart for his own good attitude are classic for this lovely breed. Thank you to all the noteworthy judges for recognizing his outstanding quality! The future looks bright for this young dog and we look forward to the ride! Jackson is an exuberant boy who I fear will forever be a puppy in mind. He is great with all dogs including small ones and puppies, and he is great with all people, kids too. He is not a soft dog and is rather bold and virtually fearless. He is as smart as they come and WHIZ at agility, a sport that we are diving further into with him this summer, we are having so much fun! He has a super sweet cuddly side too and is a bit of a mommas boy! ;)  |
